Spring Projects & Safe Digging

Whether the projects are large scale, or simply digging out a new garden or putting up a fence, everyone is required to Click Before You Dig.

Ground Disturbance, that is, any work, operation or activity that results in a disturbance of the earth, requires that you contact a One-Call center in order to learn what utilities are buried in your dig site. Common utilities are pipelines, power-lines, natural gas lines, sewage and water lines, internet and TV lines.

Some utilities are buried less than 60cm deep. Disturbance protocol states that when digging to a depth of more than 30cm an AB One Call Ticket should be placed and the utilities should be located prior to excavating.

What’s the risk?

For one, you could get seriously hurt. In some cases, it can even cause death. If you hit a gas line, it could cause a gas leak, and it takes just one spark to cause a major explosion. If you hit an electrical line you could be electrocuted. People have lost limbs, suffered brain damage, severe burns and/or died because they hit an underground electrical line.

You could also cause property damage — not just to your own home but also to your neighbours’ property, or the city’s. Hitting a water line could flood your home or a city street, and hitting a sewer line could lead to contamination.

There’s also the monetary cost. At the end of the day, guess who’s stuck with the repair bill? That’s right: you are. Some homeowners may even face legal action.

Before you pick up that shovel, remember to always ClickBeforeYouDig.com prior to every digging project. Having buried utility lines is a free service; there’s no excuse not to call or click. Plan your landscaping projects ahead of time and request a locate one week in advance.

25 Years in Business

3-D Celebrates 25 Years in Business

As we begin our 25th year in business we want to take the time to sit back and reflect on the amazing triumphs and memories we’ve had over these years.

We have so many great stories throughout these years that will forever remain a part of us. The clients that gave us a chance and remain to be appreciated today, for all they’ve provided for the company, and every individual on our 3-D Team.

There are endless rock star individuals who were on this journey with us, many hard-working individuals that have come and gone over 25 years, and some who are still pushing strong today with us- it is our family, our Team. It is because of these amazing, dedicated and skilled individuals that 3-D has grown and flourished throughout our 25 years.

The risks, struggles, joys, accomplishments and, some days, the tears of joy and defeat. These are the raw emotions and experiences that many of us felt during the creation and continued building of our company at 3-D.

Giving up was never an option! No matter the circumstance that faced us on so many days good or bad, we kept pushing, believing, and working harder than ever to build what we are so proud of today.  The early mornings and late nights are where we had some of our most successful ideas that have been built into the core of this company.

2019 is our 25th Year in business and is something we are exceptionally proud of. It is one of our greatest accomplishments.

We’ll be taking the remainder of the year to celebrate and showcase 3-D through the years.

So, sit back and enjoy as we share with you our story, our memories, triumphs and, yes, even the hardest days where we needed to push harder than ever. It is the strength of us Entrepreneurs. Keep going!!!!!!!

What Do All The Marker Colours Mean?

You’ve seen them out there, stakes lined up in a row, marching along the ditch or a field.  Or, sometimes, spray paint decorating the street or sidewalk, a variety of colours contrasting against the dull grey pavement.

What do they mean?  Why are they there?

When companies need to do maintenance to the road, sidewalk, power lines, pipelines or sewage lines, they need to have a Line Locating Technician to come out and locate, then mark, where all the potential buried lines are.

Once located and marked, companies Nation wide need to understand what they are, and thats where the standard underground utility colour code comes in.

Using universal colour codes ensures that everyone knows what is buried there, no matter the province, location, or client.
